Examining Russian Essay Topics
Examining Russian Essay TopicsIn my last article, I explained how to come up with a list of topics to write your Russian essay on. I will go into some more details now that you know which topic is best for your needs. Keep in mind though that you can always add to your list as your skills improve and you develop new interests. From a general category, I would recommend writing about the Soviet Union or post-Soviet era. This gives you a lot of material to work with, and it gives you a great opportunity to explore some of the modern events, like the election of President Putin. Studying this time period will give you great insight into Russian culture. You can then expand upon these essay topics by choosing topics related to life in Russia, either its great power rivals like China and Russia, or more distant topics like Ukraine. You can use this time to compare the two nations, or to reflect on recent changes to the Russian political system.A unique thing about these topics is that they are not limited to history, but they can be as broad as your skills allow. In the past, you could just focus on some of the interesting, dramatic events in Russian history, such as the Russian Revolution, but the information has become easier to find. If you find yourself unsure of what topics to write about, ask for help from others or read some general guides that give you great ideas. The topics I discussed previously fall under a few categories, so I would encourage you to write out the top choices before actually writing the essay. That way, you can see which of the topics seem best suited for your Russian essay topic. You may find that you can use a couple of them as part of the essay itself, or that you can use only one or two of them.If you are unfamiliar with some of the countries mentioned, it can be helpful to use some resources to get some ideas. Try reading some Russian literature, getting information from Russian friends, or just reading interesting materials. Many West erners are starting to learn Russian and their language skills are improving all the time. So if you are a newcomer to the language, you should have no problem finding what you need.As you think about the Russian essay topics you want to include, do some research on these topics. Find some information on them online, but don't just assume that all the information is available. Check out the academic resources as well, including popular books and even online guides. Finally, it's worth noting that many of the essays that you read today are based on the topics that you write about in your Russian essay topics. If you were to repeat the process, you might get your essay topic changed as well. Be sure to have fun and remember that your best essays are the ones that you do not feel rushed.
